Oliver Searle - Ollie - Artist Profile

Bio

Oliver Searle is an artist currently living in Brisbane Australia. With a background in Classical Dance, unexpected experiences including Astral Projection and Kundalini is what Ollie draws upon in his artwork. The first memories Ollie had of art evolve around drawing human figures and fashion.  “It seemed to click after my Kundalin experience to why I drew a lot of human figures. When it comes to fashion I try and find meaning.  It is not just a dress for example; it’s a reflection of all the women who have been a part of my life.”

Ollie works with Acrylic paint on large Canvas.  You can see his influence with his early use of watercolour in his acrylic skin tones with the use of glazing.  Ollie used to only work with paper.  “People were suggesting that I worked with canvas but it never used to feel right.  It was only until I felt that I couldn’t paint with paper any more. My painting was changing a bit and the paper was becoming too flimsy.  It happened organically and then I felt that I had the integrity to move to canvas.”
